Currently I am a visiting assistant professor at the WM Keck Science Center, which serves the Claremont Colleges (primarily Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps). I have extensive teaching experience, having been a teaching assistant for four semesters (plus a summer session) at Boston University, two quarters at UCI, and two summers at the Summer Science Program. I was also a visiting lecturer at Santa Ana College in Santa Ana, CA, where I taught an introductory class called Introduction to the Solar System. I have experience teaching all levels of undergraduate students, as well as advanced high school students. My physics background means that I am well equipped to teach both physics and astronomy classes. I strive to create an equitable and inclusive classroom.
Students Mentored
Catherine Cerny: I worked with Catherine while she was an undergraduate at Michigan, working on the RELICS project. She is currently a graduate student at Durham University.
Kaitlyn Shavelle: I served as Kaitlyn's honors research mentor when she was a senior in high school at Marlborough School. She worked on expanding the COBRA search by offsetting the radio source from the center of the search field. She is currently studying astronomy at Columbia University.
Annie Poy: I supervised Annie's senior thesis in the fall of 2020. She did an in-depth study if the galaxy cluster Abell 586 using archival Chandra data. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with her M.S.Ed in 2023 and is currently the Observatory Coordinator at the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory.
